Madrona
In the far future the world now known as Earth and once known as Terra comes to be known as Madrona. Our present day is their long forgotten history. The technology we enjoy has been lost, rendered useless by random electromagnetic field shifts in the planet’s crust. The majority of the world is recovering from a long, deep, dark age and a new renaissance is taking place. The kingdom of Madrona has been lead fearlessly ruthlessly and efficiently for three generations and now its principalities and allies stretch across all of what was once known as Europe and Asia.
The concept of Madrona
The idea came from reading an anthology done by professional authors and thinking, hey, my friends would probably like to do something like this.
My friends all write, though many are more comfortable with fan fiction where they already have a set world, and characters to draw from. So I created the world of Madrona. I have been working with several brave souls to populate it in a community site on livejournal.com. As it sits we have many very good stories written, and our community is a great place to work on getting stories written and feedback on them, however the format on the comm requires a person to go down the page to find the first entry and read up to the last, not the best format for it. So I am posting finished works on this site in the correct readable format for others to enjoy.
Anyone interested in adding to the anthology can simply make a profile at livejournal.com and join the madrona_project.
Authors
We have a lovely list of contributors of these stories from the livejournal community. Some have writing others artwork all are wonderfully creative. We are fairly new and it takes a certain amount of nerve to post a story that came from your own imagination out for the world to read and react to. Some of our members are working on their projects but have not yet added to the collection yet.
Known Lands
There are many lands in Madrona that are shared, meaning that authors are welcome to set stories in the pre existing area another author has set forth. The owner of each land can refuse to allow a story that breaks their canon to become a part of the official anthology, but so far everyone has worked well together and overcome differences of opinion by setting stories in different eras or reworking them until they fit with the local canon.
